Clinical Judgment: Ethics of Decision-Making
3 Ethics CEU’s for LCSW’s and LPC’s
Friday, June 15, 2012
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
This seminar is designed for clinicians at all levels of experience and across practice levels and settings. We are humans, and therefore, we filter information through what we have experienced, learned, and know. Sound clinical judgment requires neutrality and objectivity. However, as human beings, this is not possible. We then end up making decisions based on what is going on in our lives, which might violate ethical principles. Thus, this presentation will address issues of sound clinical judgment and ethical principles to follow without violating personal or professional standards. In addition, issues of clinical diagnoses will be addressed.
Upon completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe sound clinical judgment
2. Identify the different components of ethical decision-making process
3. Explain how the different components fit with clinical judgment
4. Analyze which component is most likely to be violated
5. Apply sound clinical judgment to decision-making processes with minimal ethical violations
.
